Funerals

We minister to all sorts of people in their time of grief. Our aim is that all Funeral services at All Saints have dignity, and a note of celebration of the life of the person who has died. We try to meet the personal needs of family and friends who are grieving. It is possible to have a special selection of music, and perhaps a PowerPoint display. It is important for the person making the PowerPoint to speak first with the clergy about the content and format of the PowerPoint. Our funeral services are based on the flexible service from A Prayer Book for Australia.

We are glad for family and friends to take part in the service as they wish. However we do set a limit to eulogies and their length. The clergy conducting the Funeral need to see any eulogy well before the service day. We do not give an open invitation for anyone to speak at the funeral. Some speeches are best given at the wake and not in the church.

We willingly offer the ministry of a Christian funeral to any family making a request, and aim to make the service as simple and personal as family may wish. Of course there are Bible readings, prayers, and a short address in our Funeral services, even when the person who has died has not been a Church goer. Because funerals in All Saints are acts of worship of God, the focus of any funeral is both the deceased person, and the God who loves us.
